Ex-boyfriend arrested after allegedly throwing Molotov cocktail into Van Zandt Co. home

Van Zandt County (KETK) — The Van Zandt County Fire Marshall's Office responded to a reported fire bombing of a residence a little after midnight Wednesday morning.
Upon arrival, they learned that a suspect threw a Molotov cocktail through a bedroom window onto a sleeping couple.The male victim suffered first and second degree burns and refused EMS treatment and transport to the hospital. The female was not injured, and there was only minor fire damage to the home.
The suspect was later identified as an ex-boyfriend.
Officials tell KETK, the suspect had previously made threats on the lives of his ex girlfriend and new boyfriend.
The Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene with interviews and evidence collection.
At approximately 2:30 p.m. the same day, the Van Zandt County Fire Marshal Office, with the assistance of the Kaufman County Fire Marshal Office and Kaufman County Sheriff Office, apprehended the suspect at a residence north of Elmo in Kaufman County. The suspect attempted to hide in the home, but was taken into custody without further incident.
He was booked in to the Van Zandt County Justice Center.
