By mid-meeting, 2 council members have walked out. One comes back...and leaves again
COFFEE CITY — For years, the small East Texas city 'Coffee City' in between Tyler and Frankston has often found itself at the center of controversy.
The city -- for whatever reason doesn't have an official website at the moment.
So a group called the Concerned Citizens of Coffee City have their own website...click here to see that.
And there is another website operated by a Concerned Citizens member that calls itself the 'Official Website' of Coffee City...click here to see that one.
Some say it's parody of the city... it's full of jokes and funny pictures mocking the city government there.
After a council member used the floor to speak directly to the particular citizen who maintains that website -- for the graphic nature of some of the other sites he maintains...one of the other council members got up and left...followed by another council member who also happens to be a member of the Concerned Citizens of Coffee City.
She eventually came back -- and at the end...left again...click the video above to see the raw video of the dramatic ending to the meeting.

If the mayor was going to attack someone, he would do it right??? What has he done right for the city so far? Not the community center where the asphalt is running down the hill or the endorsement of the "Family-Friendly" Club Ignite where there have been gun shots and they play "Beer Pong".
Bitter hatered, jealousy, resentment, perversion. Why can't we just move forward and develop our City for the betterment of our children, grandchildren, and beyond? Does this wreak of biblical perverted prophecies? Get your collective stuff together CITIZENS. Fighting amongst ourselves is foolish. Let the federal government fill that dance card...as they already have...if we're not united, we're divided...you're either part of the solution...or part of the problem. Think about it!
Wow, John, just more evidence of your predatory sociopathy. You disagree with the Federal governments while run by Dem's (so do I, but I also see the hypocrisy of the statist "RINO" republicans) and hate being taxed by them, but just find a bit of gov't where you have control (local) which actually has MORE effect on our lives, and suddenly dissent is bad? As for your first 3 sentences, you describe yourself, esp. the perversion, mirror-boy! http://concernedcitizenscoffeecity.com/coffeecity/
..and your solution is property taxes. No thanks.
Perversion? Are you referring to the two-way mirrors in John Graham's downstairs bathroom to which he proudly admitted TWICE during the council meeting, and was reported in today's edition of the Frankston Citizen? Is that some of the perversion to which you refer, John, er I mean toadHollow? Anyone can tell it is you, since it is hard to figure what you are even trying to say here, LOL!
Now Ms Freeman has successfully bought the Fishing Ban from under the Hwy 155 bridge with a $25,000 donation from the Economic Development Committee to the Community Center project of Coffee City that has been so mismanaged it is desperate to get funds to complete the project by the due date. Congratulations Ms Freeman - you succeeded in banning fishermen from the best fishing spot on Lake Palestine, that have been fishing there since the Lake opened, because you do not want to look at them.
News22, I believe that Ross report was erroneous.
The Mayor ProTem is having to run on his abysmal record, so he is lashing out at the opposition. The facts are he, and his cadre, have run the city to the brink of bankruptcy. This man should have never taken political office, he doesn't understand the first thing about governance or fiscal responsibility.
The Vice President of the Economic Development Committee of Coffee City owns the only house anywhere near the Hwy 155 bridge at the spot that backs up to Kilo Land and Hwy 155 across Hwy 155 is Fat Dogs Liquor Store. This individual, Donna Freeman and her husband, have been trying to get the fishing banned from under Hwy 155 bridge for well over a year that I know about. The Freemans knew all the facts and that a lot of folks fished there before they built their house but did it anyway.
There is hard evidence of the overbearing attitudes of the appointed officials over the elected officials on video. Each Coffee City City Council Meeting is video taped and it is loaded on the http://concernedcitizenscoffeecity.com/coffeecity/ web site. All anyone has to do is go to this link and view the council meetings for themselves to see what is going on in Coffee City.
I have been watching this situation with the Coffee City City Council for well over a year now and I have never seen such deliberate corruption before. There are only 2 alderpersons on the council that were actually elected and the other ones that were APPOINTED TO OFFICE all gang up on the 2 elected officials. The elected officials are Pam Drost and Darlene Jordan. They try to obey the law and force a legal budget but they are overturned on EVERY item.
Read both links one is funny other seems to be chocked full of articles of a city governement running wild. Where are or were the State and County authorities while this was occuring? County and District Attorneys? State Attorney General? State Comptroller? State Agriculture Department? Seems from articles written in one link they all let them do as they please.
From another link provided why was ex Mayors felony illegal voting case dismissed June 19th 2012 per Smith County public records?
John Graham is just about the biggest (and worst) liar on Lake Palestine. Now that is truly an accomplishment!
More of the same from John Graham et al. The Henderson County Sheriff's Dept. investigated the Mayor's assault on a disabled Vietnam Vet at City Hall because he was angry at having to turn over records for his open records request. The deputies determined an assault had occurred, and forwarded the case to the county attorney, Clint Davis (formerly the City Attorney for Coffee City) who immediately flubbed the procedure and claimed (incorrectly) that it would be double jeopardy to refile.
