Exercise tests skills of area rescue divers
Big Sandy — Area and state search and rescue divers got a lesson Thursday in how difficult it can be to find a submerged object.
With dark clouds above and intermittent rains pelting the surface of Lake Loma, nine divers entered the dark waters to search for a boat, a plane and a car during an underwater training exercise at the International ALERT Academy.
At their deepest, the waters of Lake Loma are about 45 feet, but the objects were submerged at a depth of about 25 feet.
