EZ Mart robbery suspect apprehended in Longview
LONGVIEW --- Longview Police Detectives have arrested a man who robbed a convenience
store with a hammer early Wednesday morning.
On May 5, 2010 at around 3:16 a.m., Longview Officers responded to the EZ Mart at 1232 McCann Road for a report of a robbery that had just occurred.
The clerk told officers that a man had entered the store wielding a hammer and demanded money from the register. The clerk complied and the suspect fled on foot with an unspecified amount of money.
Detectives reviewing the store surveillance video recognized the suspect as Austin Mintas.
Detectives knew Mintas from his involvement in an unrelated case in which he reported being the victim of a robbery at a Longview area hotel.
Gregg County Justice of the Peace B.H. Jameson issued a warrant for Mintas and he was arrested without incident during a traffic stop on May 5th at around 4:20 p.m.
Austin Mintas has been booked into the Gregg County Jail and charged with aggravated robbery, a 1st degree felony.
