Tyler, TX — The Farm Bill is eight weeks overdue, a $500 billion dollar bill.

It's a bill that Congress has control to pass every few years.

It subsidizes food aid, agriculture research, rural development and food stamps which accounts for majority of the spending.

"The programs are put in place to help farmers and producers and need to go on," says John Paine, General Manager, Farm and Ranch Feed, LLC.

Paine tells KETK, farmers and producers depend on the Farm Bill and production costs are out of the roof for feed and fertilizer.

Reports say, U.S.. Agriculture urged Congress to pass the bill and their trying to get a new Farm Bill by Fall 2013.

"It's disappointing that they attached so much to it that it ties it up, so much that it really doesn't have anything to do with the agriculture part of it," says John Paine, General Manager, Farm and Ranch Feed, LLC.

"Without agriculture we don't eat, I mean that's where food comes from and the cows aren't going to wait to eat and I think it should be at the top of the list of priorities as far as spending goes," says Rachel Vickers, Store Manager, Farm and Feed Ranch.

According to reports, the Farm Bill is a minor issue for lawmakers to spend time on, and before the 2012 Election, President Obama suggested $33 million dollars in agricultural cuts.

Paine tells KETK, it's important to get the Farm Bill going as soon as possible.
