Farmers' Market Opens
TYLER -- The East Texas State Fair Farmers' Market will open for the 2010 season tomorrow at the East Texas State Fairgrounds.
The East Texas State Fair Farmer's Market is open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 7:00am till 1:00pm through August 14. A sampling of items scheduled for sale on Saturday: onions, squash, kale, Swiss chard, cabbage, strawberries, carrots, farm fresh eggs, and turnip greens.
Aside from the freshest local produce the market offers honey, stone ground cornmeal and various craft items.
According to Cathy Grote, Manager of the market, "The vendors at the East Texas State Fair Farmers' Market look forward to the season each year.
The patrons are stimulating the local economy by buying from their neighbors here in east Texas and it is a great educational tool to teach children about local agriculture.
All the Farmers' Market participants are anxiously awaiting the opening weekend and have delicious produce and beautiful products for the 2010 season."
She added, "We invite everyone to come out this weekend for fresh berries and vegetables, new recipes and to learn about what products fare well in east Texas."
