CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) - Four people are dead and one is hospitalized after a two-car, head-on collision on a South Texas highway near Corpus Christi.

The crash happened Saturday morning on Texas Route 44 on the eastern edge of Robstown, about 20 miles west of Corpus Christi.

Robstown Police Chief Johnny Brown says a car carrying three Alice family members drifted into an oncoming lane and slammed head-on into another car.

All three of the family members were killed. Brown identified them as 18-year-old Jeffrey Garcia, 19-year-old Iris Jones and 23-year-old Veronica Garcia.

Also killed was the driver of the other car, 23-year-old Raul Castillo of Robstown. Castillo's 23-year-old passenger, 23-year-old Eliza Delosantos of Robstown, was listed in serious condition Sunday in
Christus Spohn Memorial hospital.

Brown says empty beer containers were found inside the Garcias'car.
