Longview,TX — A Tuesday night shooting that left a 23-year-old Longview man dead and at least two other people wounded may have been the result of a setup, the dead man’s mother said.
“He was giving someone he knew a ride and was set up to be robbed,” said Sharron Abercrombie, whose son was found dead at the scene in South Longview. “He was trying to be nice. He got killed trying to be the good guy.”
DeAundray Lamanze Rossum, a former Kilgore College student and football player, was found dead of gunshot wounds in a vehicle at a South Longview apartment complex, Longview police said Wednesday.
Three other people were in the vehicle at the time of the shooting, police said. Two of them were taken to Good Shepherd Medical center, where they were treated for gunshot wounds.
Officers responded to reports of a shooting just before 10 p.m. Tuesday in the 2900 block of Signal Hill Drive, near the intersection of South Loop 281 and Estes Parkway.
