Fight between Overton brothers almost turns deadly

AS REPORTED IN THE HENDERSON DAILY NEWS:
OVERTON - A family quarrel between brothers narrowly avoided tragedy on Christmas Eve in Overton.
Police departments from Arp, Overton and New London police department responded to a disturbance call at 10:50 p.m. Dec. 24 in the 1300 block of Farm-to-Market Road 2089 just outside Overton.
According to an arrest affidavit filed by Overton Police Officer Janice Bagley, witnesses allege Cory Lyndall Grant, 23, of Overton fired a pistol during the dispute, with the shot barely missing his brother's young daughter.
“Mr. Grant was arrested for aggravated assault family violence, a second-degree felony,” Bagley said. “He was taken into custody and transported to Rusk County Jail without further incident.”
