Casen's Crusade. EXCLUSIVE TO KETK.

Holly Lake Ranch, Wood Co. (KETK) — Casen Michael Cameron was born on January 15, 2007. Casen’s father Corey Cameron explains, “He was normal healthy, happy, would run, play." But two years later, things started to change.

Casen’s father says, "In November of 2009 Casen had a seizure."

Soon Casen's family found out he had a rare brain disorder, causing Casen to go legally blind, lose all speech and motor skills. Corey Cameron says, "They diagnosed him with Late-infantile Batten Disease, we had no idea what batten disease was." So he did what any parent would do, he turned to the internet to research batten disease, to get answers. But, there were no answers. There is no cure, and Batten Disease is always fatal. Casen’s dad says, “So we looked for, who's doing the research? Who's funding the research?” He found out there wasn’t much support for Batten’s Research, so he started a Facebook page to raise awareness for Batten Disease called: Casen's Crusade."

He had a goal in mind, he says, "We had 2300 likes on his page and I asked, is it possible to have 3,000 by Christmas." Two days before Christmas, they got their wish and then some, 10 Thousand “likes” and counting.

Casen's Grandmother, Pamela Cameron says; they won't give up the fight for a cure, "We will continue to do Casen's Crusade until they find one."

Casen’s father chokes back tears as he says, "I was told they most likely won't find a cure in Casen's lifetime, however if I continue to fight it will help another family. That's my goal."

Casen turns 6 on January 15, 2013.
