Oak Grove Bible Church in Bullard is "proclaiming it at the pump" with their new gas station ministry. Joe Ballard, Pastor of Oak Grove says, "I always pray that God will give me creative ways to spread the Gospel," and this silent way of spreading the word is a unique one. Ballard says it's all God work, "He's the one who gives us hope for the day," Ballard says he's just trying to spread that hope.

Ballard and the 75 church members at Oak Grove are taking small business-cards with scripture and inspirational messages, and putting them in the credit card slots at gas stations hoping that the next person that fills up will be encouraged by the message. Ballard says, "I'm sure they're going to look at it and be like, what is this? and they are going to read it and maybe they've struggled that day, and that might be exactly what they needed to hear."

Mike Miller from Tyler says he thinks this a different, yet great minisrty, "I think its somewhat unique and I think it's a good way to reach people." Another gas-goer at the Valero gas station on the South Loop in Tyler tells KETK News, "Anybody would want to read something special if they had a bad day, I think its great." Ballard says, "These are just good reminders, simple reminders that people can pick up and the lord can use them," and he hopes these reminders can leave lasting encouragement to people all across east texas, "it's small, it's simple but it can have a big impact," Ballard said.

Ballard hopes all of the churches East Texas catch on to this ministry and help to spread the good word at the gas pump.
