Filling the Boot for a Good Cause
August 22, 2009 - 4:52pm
TYLER - Longview and Tyler firefighters are filling their boots this weekend to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
This 55-year old tradition began when a father of two sons with muscular dystrophy sought the help of his local firefighters.
Today this tradition has taken off and has helped hundreds of families dealing with this life-altering disease.
Though these firefighters say they were more than happy to help out, there was a little catch to this year's fundraiser.
Both city departments are in a little friendly competition, whoever fills the boot with the most money will get a trophy during this year's telethon which will be broadcast on KETK.
