Nacogdoches, TX (KETK) — A fire broke out at a Nacogdoches elementary school on Tuesday morning.
According to officials with Nacogdoches ISD, the small fire began in a pre-k classroom at Emeline Carpenter Academy of Technology and Science around 10:00 am.
The school's staff and students were quickly evacuated from the area, and nobody was injured in the incident.
Nacogdoches firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the classroom where it began.
However, smoke from the incident affected 12 classrooms in the same wing.
NISD personnel are assessing the damage and making plans to repair the school facility as soon as possible. Until the work is complete, students and staff affected by the fire have been relocated to another portion of the school.
The fire is believed to be electrical in nature.
The school has resumed its regular schedule and will be open tomorrow.
