WASHINGTON D.C. - The nation's capitol was host to its first same-sex marriages this morning.
Washington D.C. is now one of six places nationwide that allow same sex marriage.
"It's still our wedding and we were happy to do this in front of a court house, and we think that this a big moment for the nation's capital," said groom James Betts.
Some 150 couples are now eligible to collect marriage licenses.
Hundreds more are expected to apply soon.
As same-sex couples line up to take their vows not everyone is willing to forever hold their peace.
Plenty are speaking out against the law passed in December that allows the unions.
The federal government still defines marriage as between a man and a woman, so for federal workers there still won't be any spousal benefits.
Still, for those legally married today, the other benefits of married life are giving them plenty to celebrate.

I just don't get why people have such a problem with it! If something has nothing to do with you then you should keep your nose out of it. It's simply none of your business. If two people just want to be happy together than leave them alone. I'm sure you have enough stuff to focus on yourself.
