East Texas — More people are taking out their fishing poles and hunting equipment, fishing and hunting is on the rise in the U.S. after decades of declining numbers.

The Fish and Wildlife Service's National 2011 Survey finds that more than 33 million people fished, and spent more than 40 million dollars on trip, equipment, license, and other items.

More than 13 million people went hunting, spending close to 30 million.

In Texas, there's a statewide revenue increase. I spoke to Brad Clark, Game Warden, with Texas Parks and Wildlife and he says that fishing is picking up, people are spending, and when people buy licenses the money goes the Texas Parks and Wildlife.

"Last year was a tough year because of drought and fires and the economy was hurting everybody, but this year it's going to be a lot better, you're seeing a lot of deer, license sales are increasing."

There are 25 thousand more license sales this 2012 through 2013 than last year, and that money goes directly into Texas Parks and Wildlife.
