Former Cowboy Greg Ellis visits Tyler
Tyler (KETK) — Greg Ellis was the featured speaker at the ninth annual East Texas Kick-Off Luncheon at Harvey Convention Center in Tyler Wednesday.
Ellis was drafted in the first round by the Cowboys in 1998.
He became the first rookie to start on the Dallas defensive line since Hall of Famer Bob Lilly.
Ellis played for the Cowboys for 11 seasons.
He made the Pro Bowl in 2007 and was named the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year.
KETK Sports asked Ellis about the Cowboys.
The defense finished last in the league last season.
"The one year we were #1 on defense in the NFL, we weren't expected to be good," Ellis said. "But defense is a mentality."
"The thing that can be their saving grace is to put a chip on their shoulder, to be us against the world," Ellis added. "Let's pull together and find a way to win."
