Kilgore College will offer a free two-day course in Disaster Management this month.
The 16-hour class will meet 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Wednesday, December 11-12, in the Bert E. Woodruff Adult Education Building in Kilgore.
Disasters can result from many causes including prolonged power outages, cyber-attacks, natural hazards, pandemic illness, fire, weather and human violence.
The course will teach how planning and procedures can alleviate property and human loss, as well as alleviate the shock and confusion that such disasters create.
It is designed for safety managers or small business owners to help develop an emergency response and contingency plan that protects property and employees.
Information about who to call, where to find help for recovery and how to resolve issues following a disaster will prove invaluable to participants who attend the Disaster Management safety course.
The class is free through the KC Workforce Development’s Risk Management Institute and is funded by a grant from Texas Mutual Insurance Company.
