Freezing temperatures have homeowners going "plumb" crazy
(KETK) - Tyler Tx — As freezing temperatures swept across East Texas last night, many woke up to find their water had frozen in their pipes, and now for plumbers, it's go-time.
At McIntyre Plumbing in Tyler, the phones have been ringing off the hook.
Owner Wayne McIntyre said they had received 35 calls concerning frozen pipes, and had to turn many others away due to the overwhelming amount.
Because of the call volume, many customers may have to wait until Thursday before they can service their houses.
He said his plumbers have been working until 11 at night at times, and expects this could continue all week.
But although the cold weather has already hit, he says it's still time to take preventative measures, such as insulating your pipes.
McIntyre said, in many cases you won't even know you have a busted pipe until the water unfreezes, and starts flooding your property.
