59 Texians convened at Washington-on-the-Brazos on March 1st

Houston — The Houston Chronicle is reporting; While the Battle of the Alamo raged, 59 other Texians convened at Washington-on-the-Brazos on March 1, 1836, to decide the future of Texas.

The delegates worked through the night to draft a declaration of "a free and independent Republic of Texas."
