Fried bubblegum at Texas State Fair
DALLAS (AP) - — The State Fair of Texas has offered fried bubblegum and seven other lip-smacking delights as finalists for the Big Tex Choice Awards.
A panel of judges Monday will pick the winners for Best Taste and Most Creative foods for sale during the annual expo in Dallas. Fair officials on Wednesday described one offering as a bubblegum-flavored marshmallow dipped in batter and fried, then
topped with icing and powdered sugar.
Other finalists are a sausage and sauerkraut ball, a puff pastry stuffed with pumpkin and cream cheese, a buffalo chicken strip coated in flapjack batter and fried, a bagged taco, deep fried pineapple upside-down cake, deep fried salsa and a fried banana
rolled in a flour tortilla.
The State Fair of Texas runs Sept. 30 through Oct. 23.
