Full Armor on the verge of closing, needs help from community

One East Texas Christian school could be closing its doors after being open for two decades.

Full Armor Christian Academy is the only Christian school in Rusk County, but it is currently in dire financial need.

The school offers education opportunities for students from kindergarten through high school. and was founded in 1994, as a Christian alternative to public education.

Those with the school say it is important for families to have that education option for their children.

Families do pay tuition, but that money does not cover the total cost of upkeep, and the school relies heavily on donors.

But recently, due to a number of factors, much of that money has dried up, and a final decision about the school will be made soon.

"Our board of trustees will get together next week, depending on how much funds we can raise, will determine the future enrollment of our school and the announcement will be made next week," said PTF president Wyn Billingsley.

The school is non-denominational, and one mother challenged local churches to help pitch in, saying this is more than a school, it is a ministry.
