Funds raised for father-daughter duo battling same brain disorder
Hallsville — Dozens of supporters flooded into the Hallsville ISD Junior High School auditorium Thursday to support a father and daughter diagnosed days apart with the same brain disease that requires surgery.
The daughter, Summer Butler, was born six years ago with two auto-immune disorders.
While her parents, Jeremy and Tonya, said that dealing with doctors, specialists and medical bills have become a part of life, neither was prepared for the news that came early this year that the girl and her father had a hereditary brain disorder called Chiari Malformation.
