Galveston gets to keep $5M federal loan for Ike repairs

Repayment of the loan - at a 1.75 interest rate - was to begin in 2014

The Houston Chronicle is reporting; The City of Galveston has received a generous gift from Washington, D.C.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency recently informed the city that it will forgive a $5 million community disaster loan the city received after Hurricane Ike hit in 2008.

Would have thought proud Texas would have snubbed it's nose at any "govmint" monies, seeing how consistently this state bashes the federal know...the I/me/mine hatred of all things Washington. Yep, it is clear now...Texans love to hate Obama, Democrats, our federal government system, but always with a hand out to take, take, take. Nobody is better than even the lowliest Texan, right? Oh, wait...must exclude poor Texans 'cause they don't donate big $ to sleazy politicians.
