(KETK) — A Texas game warden whom was severely injured over the weekend is now in stable condition.
According to the Texas Game Warden's Office in Austin, the game warden was injured on-duty while patrolling Lake Sam Rayburn Sunday afternoon. The game warden was identified as Henry Alvarado.
Alvarado was critically hurt when he was thrown from a boat and a prop cut deep into his leg, severing an artery. Other officials rushed to his aid and immediately applied a tourniquet.
Texas Parks and Wildlife Spokesperson Mike Cox said the game warden's life was saved because of his fellow officers.
"We're grateful we had others there to help him, it just shows you what a risky job they do for the people of Texas," said Cox.
He was flown to a nearby hospital and will continue to recover.
