TYLER - With the start of dove season, many people are torn this Labor Day weekend between hunting and boating, but East Texas Game Wardens say they'll still be out regulating both.

Smith County Game Warden Chris Green says wardens will be out patrolling both land and lake activities this year.

"So we expect a good safe weekend and we'll have some hunt and we'll have some get out in the boat, we game wardens will be out there to regulate all of it," Chris Green says.

He says this is the last big hoorah for the lakes, but that doesn't mean wardens will be less strict about enforcing the rules of the waterways.

"We're still going to regulate our lakes the same goes for every holiday, alcohol, can't be intoxicated as the boat operator."

It's very important he says to make sure you follow boating code before getting out on the water.
