Tyler Junior College welcomes the World Series to the Rose City by winning it all seven years ago.

Since the Series is leaving Tyler, the Apaches would like to give themselves a going away gift by winning it again.

TJC will get that chance starting this weekend.

The Apaches will host Suffolk County, New York in the first round of the Junior College World Series.

The game will be at Mike Carter Field at noon on Saturday.

TJC is in the World Series for the third time in the last seven years.

The Apaches advanced to the Series by winning last weekend in Tyler.

"It's a great feeling for us," said TJC coach Doug Wren. "This is always the biggest hurdle for us, just getting there and getting an opportunity to win a national championship."

"We're looking forward to some good crowds at Mike Carter Field," Wren added. "We'll see what we can do."
