Girl Power Summit Teaches Lessons on Empowerment

TYLER - Girls from around East Texas experienced the Girl Power Summit today.

The event, held at the Boys and Girls Club in Tyler, was set up to teach young girls about setting goals and overcoming adversity.

People from around the community came in to teach the almost 250 girls about internet safety, self defense, and other activities in the area.

Olympic gold medalist Dominique Dawes was at the event.

The girls said they learned a lot from the olympian.
