Gladewater airport board at odds
Gladewater — The man at the center of a dispute among members of the Gladewater Municipal Airport Board said Monday that the issue is personal.
“The board just got some old blood on it and they don’t like change and they don’t like new people, and I represent both of those,” airport board member Mark Carpenter said.
He became a board member late last year, and contention soon set in over whether Carpenter’s use of the airport was a conflict of interest warranting his removal from the board.
City officials don’t think a conflict exists, but board members have accused Carpenter of running his business from the airport. If so, that would appear to violate the city’s rules governing who can serve on the board.
