AS REPORTED IN THE LONGVIEW NEWS-JOURNAL:

GLADEWATER —  Gladewater city officials say, they have balanced the budget, and increased the tax rate about 3 cents.

Officials used more than $100,000 of reserve funds Thursday to do so.

Gladewater's $4,185,957 budget required the city council to pull $104,624 from a reserve account to balance it.

The budget will include spending an extra $100,000 on road improvements.
