Gladewater ISD: Insurance costs offset by step, percentage raises
Gladewater, TX (Longview News-Journal) — Gladewater ISD is revising its salary schedules and giving step and percentage raises to all employees to offset some of the additional cost its personnel will spend in 2013-14 on increasing insurance premiums, Superintendent J.P. Richardson announced Tuesday.
The Gladewater ISD school board is set to adopt a balanced 2013-14 budget June 17, Richardson said. Within that budget, trustees intend to allot an additional $261,867 more than existing salary costs to give all employees — professionals and non-professionals — a step raise and percentage raise, Richardson said.
The move comes one year after Gladewater ISD gave all employees a two-step increase to make up for salary freezes during the 2011-12 school year.
