Gladewater ISD to talk bond election
Gladewater — Gladewater ISD voters may know Monday night whether they’ll be casting ballots in a May bond election.
The fate of a $35 million bond proposal will be in the hands of Gladewater ISD trustees Monday after bond committee members make their pitch.
The committee unanimously voted to propose the amount to cover $28 million for construction of a new middle school, including about $1 million for demolition and asbestos abatement of the existing Gladewater Middle School.
“The cost of $27,072,602 estimated for the new Gladewater Middle School is the total project cost that, in addition to raw construction cost, includes an amount for escalation, project contingency, fees, permits, soft costs, furniture, fixtures and equipment,” said Craig Drone of Huckabee Architecture. “It is what we consider to be a turn-key cost that will cover everything to get the building up and running.”
