Gladewater PD: Fines can be issued for pet owners not in compliance
Gladewater, Texas (KETK) — The Gladewater Police Department is warning pet owners to make sure their animals are in compliance with local laws, or a fine is possible from law enforcement.
The police department released the following statement on their Facebook page:
A Public Service Message from Gladewater Police Department and Animal Control: All dogs and cats over four months of age must be vaccinated annually for rabies with an anti-rabies vaccine administered by a licensed veterinarian.
A metal certificate of vaccination with the year of vaccination, a certificate number, and the name, address, and phone number of the vaccinating veterinarian must be securely attached to a collar or harness that must be worn by the dog or cat at all times.
In addition to the metal certificate, a paper certificate must be issued stating the name of the owner, the address of the owner, a description of the dog or cat, the date of the vaccination, the number of the metal certificate and kind of vaccine used. Failure to vaccinate your dog or cat against rabies can result in a fine and/or summons to Municipal Court.
