Gladewater residents tour elementary school ahead of school bond election
GLADEWATER, TX — If Gladewater ISD voters approve a $35 million bond in May, the district does not yet know what it will do with the Broadway Elementary School and Gladewater Middle School buildings.
Superintendent J.P. Richardson re-emphasized the point Tuesday as about 30 community members sat in the cafeteria after touring the elementary school.
“There is no money in this bond for knocking down Broadway or knocking down the middle school, and I don’t know how else to say it,” Richardson said, countering concern that the bond would pay to tear down the two campuses.
Gladewater ISD’s May 10 bond election seeks to build a new middle school and to move Broadway Elementary School children into a renovated and expanded Weldon Intermediate School.
