The Gladewater Police Department will go under the microscope, after the Gladewater City Council agreed Thursday to pay $22,000 for an external assessment of their police management.

The City Council will hire Rathburn and Associates, the business face of William Rathburn, former Dallas police chief and former deputy chief of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Since 1996, Rathburn has provided security consulting, expert witness work, and police department assessments.

“I guess I could say, there are always concerns any community would have. This is one thing we have always talked about in the past wanting to do, the council is really adamant about trying to promote our community,” Gladewater City Manager Sean Pate said.
