As the Chief Executive Officer for Ping Golf, John Solheim knows that staying on the cutting edge of technology is important in keeping the competition at bay.

Solheim, a former LeTourneau University student and board trustee whom the school’s basketball arena is named after, delivered the keynote address at a banquet Tuesday night as part of “E-Week” — LeTourneau’s way of celebrating National Engineers Week, which started Sunday and ends Saturday.

“Students are learning a lot of lessons throughout their lives,” Solheim said. “All the things you learn about can help you in things you are doing today. I want the students to keep pushing for the latest in technology so they can make their product better.”

The E-Week Banquet, held in Solheim Arena, featured more than 100 professional engineers from Northeast Texas with about 100 engineering students and faculty from area high schools and colleges in attendance.
