Chick-fil-A, The Home Depot providing food, shelter to drivers stranded in severe winter weather
Chick-fil-A and The Home Depot have been doing their part to aid drivers stranded due to harsh winter weather conditions.
According tor MyFoxNY.com, after drivers were forced to abandon their cars on snow-covered Highway 280 near Birmingham, Alabama, Chick-fil-A was able to house the citizens in their time of need.
The staffers at the fast-food giant braved the harsh conditions and refused payment for any of their food, reports FOXNY. They say the meal was a gift, plain and simple.
The chain also allowed people to cmap out and sleep on the benches and booths.
The Home Depot is also providing around the clock shelter to travelers stranded by the winter weather. The company opened 26 stores in Alabama and Georgia overnight.
A Home Depot spokesman says he's heard stories of customers watching movies in break room and at one store, an indoor garden serves as a reading area.
