City of Marshall approves funding to continue Wonderland of Lights
Marshall, Texas — The Marshall City Commission voted unanimously to approve $50,000 in funding for Wonderland of Lights 2014 during the City Commission meeting held April 24, 2014. The City is excited to join in the community effort to keep the tradition of Wonderland
alive in Marshall.
Since 1987, the Wonderland of Lights celebration has attracted visitors near and far to experience the spirit of Christmas in a way that only Wonderland can provide. It is important to the City Commission and the citizens of Marshall that the Wonderland of Lights legacy
The City of Marshall, working in conjunction with the Marshall Downtown Development Corporation and a committee comprised of volunteers, City employees, and downtown business owners, will produce the event this year. A town hall meeting was held last month to introduce the concept of bringing Wonderland of Lights back to the basics. The idea of making Wonderland of Lights a community effort was well-received by those in attendance, and over $7,500 in donations were pledged that evening.
An announcement will be made in the near future regarding the unveiling of the new Wonderland of Lights logo, along with exciting news and information regarding this year’s event.
