An East Texan has joined two other men, one being from California and one from Minnesota, in a three-way-tie for the Salvation Army world record for bell ringing.

Andre Thompson rang the Salvation Army kettle bell from Tuesday, December 3, at 11:00 a.m., until Saturday, December 7, at 8:00 p.m., with only short, rare breaks.

The Salvation Army declared a three-way-tie, Saturday, after 105 hours of constant bell ringing, which is 25 hours more than the previous world record of 80.

KETK was there every day, serving as addtional bell ringers and witnesses, as Thompson braved freezing temperatures and rain to raise money for those who need a little help in the area. He says, it's all for the glory of God.

Crowds, including police officers and Armed Forces service members, gathered around Thompson every day and night, bringing him warm food, drinks and even provided music to entertain him as he rang his way into the record books.

Thompson is also a Christian rapper who goes by the stage name, "Exalt." To see his inspirational music videos, click here.

Thompson has rasied $12,981, not including coins, so far in his quest.

"I am glad they declared the tie," said Thompson. "The Salvation Army is one army and we can do all these through Christ who gives us strength. It's all for Him. I'd also like to thank my employer, Dove Tree Apartments, for allowing me to take time off work to help those less fortunate. They are great."

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
