The Tyler area has been named one of happiest cities in America, according to a recent study by a Harvard pair and a Vancouver professor.

The report ranked the Tyler, Texas, metro area as the 15th happiest city in America. The data was collected from a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention survey called the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System. The researchers then adjusted for age, sex, race, income and other factors like marital status.

Five of the country's happiest cities reside in Louisiana:

  3. Shreveport-Bossier City
  4. Baton rouge, La
  5. Alexandria, La
  6. Rochester MN
  7. Corpus Christi, Tx
  8. Lake Charles, La
  9. Nashville, TN
  10. Fort Walton Beach, FL
  11. Gainesville, FL
  12. Charlotesville, VA
  13. Honolulu, HI
  14. Naples, FL
  15. Tyler, TX

New York, New York, was named the unhappiest city in America.

Top five Louisiana... Imagine that. Home of the poorly educated, most welfare users, illegitimate births....It's the good ole boy syndrome. People are either related to each other some way or go back generations where their families have known each other forever. People are very unwilling to help others. Still very racially prejudice. New corporations do not stand a chance of making it in this area.
