Knoxville, TN (CNN/WVLT) — A fast-acting three-year-old is being credited with saving a Tennessee man stuck inside a sweltering car.
The man got locked inside the car Saturday in the parking lot of his church.
Temperatures outside were on the rise and inside Bob King's car the heat was quickly building. King was trapped inside his car Saturday afternoon when three-year-old Keith Williams happen to walk by.
"I hollered at him and he just looked at me kind of funny," said King. "I told him I was locked in here."
King has battled cancer, suffered from strokes and wears a pacemaker. He says he had been locked inside for about five minutes when he started to get nervous.
"Well, yeah, it was kind of hot," said King. "That was the only thing that was bothering me, being hot. I knew that sooner or later I'd have somebody to come out so they could unlock it for me."
Luckily for him, three-year-old Keith knew exactly what to do. He went to his Pastor, Jack Greene, and led him outside to King.
"He kept pulling at my hand and eventually I turned around and looked at him," said Pastor Greene. "I asked what was going on and Keith said 'locked, locked!'"
Keith knew something wasn't right.
It may have been his superhero shirt and his Ninja Turtle shoes that gave him special powers that day, whatever it was, King is just thankful little Keith was there.
"I'm very thankful because, you know, I don't know how long it'd been," said King. "I'd say probably another 20 minutes sitting in there if he hadn't notified somebody. He saved my life."
