Tyler, Texas (KETK) — Political jousting continues on Capitol Hill and a likely Government shutdown is on the horizon. After a nearly 22 hour filibuster from Texas Senator, Ted Cruz last week some Senate Republicans caved in to the measure to fund the affordable healthcare act, known as “Obamacare,” to forfeit a federal shutdown.
Senator John McCain (R-AZ) says, "The American people deserve better than a government shutdown."
But the House Republican's didn't back down as easy as their Senate counterparts. Saturday the House passed a spending package to delay “Obamacare” for one year.
However the measure to delay the health care bill was doomed to fail. Senate majority leaders and the President saying it would be "dead on arrival"
Meanwhile, a partisan tantrum erupting on both sides about who will be responsible for the fast approaching government shutdown.
Senate Democrats shouting, "House Republicans are shutting down the government!"
House Republican’s shouting, "Their inaction of talking to us will cause a shutdown!”
Monday morning on Fox News, Republican Congressman Louie Gohmert from East Texas spoke about looming government shutdown.
Congressman Gohmert says, "look at least for heaven’s sake, you've given big business a one year extension, why not give individuals in America the same extension?!"
The house's proposal for a delay on “Obamacare” for one year was denied by the Senate Monday afternoon.
Now we are inching closer on the clock to a government shutdown, a shutdown that could affect 800 thousand federal employees.
