KILGORE — Grand jury clears Kilgore officers in August shooting death From Staff Reports Longview News-Journal | 0 comments
A Gregg County grand jury on Thursday cleared two Kilgore police officers of any wrongdoing in the August shooting death of 19-year-old Jamel Freeman.
"The grand jury cleared the officers," Gregg County District Attorney Carl Dorrough said. "They heard the testimony of the investigation from the Texas Rangers and the grand jury cleared the officers based on the investigation of the Texas Rangers."
On Aug. 1, Kilgore police shot and killed Freeman after authorities said he attacked two officers with a knife.
Both officers involved in the shooting - Dee Ann Brown and Cpl. David Tucker - were hospitalized for knife wounds that authorities said Freeman inflicted.

I will post on this story, My name is Martha and I was very upset with the editor of the Longview News Journal for his uncalled for remarks about his opions involving this case. He made his Editor's Note on 09/28/2011. I wrote him but they never published what I wrote, now it doesn't matter cause the OFFICER'S WERE CLEARED, AS THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN. I hope Brack has to eat his words. I contacted KPD and GCDA'S office about his comments before the Grand Jury heard the case.
