On Sunday, March 10, around 6:00 p.m., Middlefield Police Officers in Ohio, pulled over James Gilkerson, 42.

Officers had just radioed in Gilkerson's plates, when the driver's side door swings open and in just seconds the routine stop goes horribly wrong.

Gilkerson pulled out a semi-automatic rifle and began firing.

One officer was shot in the hand, and the other was hit in the leg.

Both were rushed to the hospital, treated and later released. They recently were honored for their actions and continue to recover from their injuries.
