A dog was found severely injured in Longview on Tuesday after authorities say it was shot at least 40 times with a pellet gun.

Longview Police tell KETK, animal control immediately took the dog to a local vet for surgery.

The dog lost one of his eyes, but is expected to survive.

Employees at the Humane Society tell KETK that this is one of the worst cases of animal abuse they have seen.

They have named the dog Spike Dillinger.

The Humane Society of Northeast Texas is accepting donations for surgery and care of the animal, and is looking for a family to foster or adopt him.

Spike is expected to be in the care of the animal shelter by Thursday.

The incident is under investigation. If you have any information, please contact the Longview Police department.

I will give $100.00 to any person that has information that leads to the arrest of the sick individual that committed this awful crime.

Some ppl are just plain sick in the head they need to serve some prison time for this not just jail and let the men in prison hand him the justice he deserv

that just makes me sick, I hope they catch whoever done this and punish them as far as is allowed.

I'd do the person who did this the same way he/she treated the dog, only with a 22 rifle.

Thank You! your comment was right on point! There should be more people in the world like you, it would be a much better place!
