UPDATE: As of 9:15 P.M. the grass fire burning south of Tyler near Turnertown has not been contained.

The Texas Forest Service tells KETK that approximately 300-350 acres have burned already.


Evacuations for the area have been ordered.

KETK has a crew on scene, and we are working to speak with evacuees at this time.

As always, KETK will bring you the latest details as the become available.


The fire near the county line between Smith and Rusk counties continues to grow.

Three fire departments and air support have been called in.

Currently, no evacuations have been issued.


Smith County crews are battling a grass fire west of Turnertown.

Officials say the blaze is located near the intersection of CR 2115 and CR 2116.

Details are limited at this time.
