Grass Roots America We the People will host Freedom Rally

George Stephenson stops by East Texas Live to explain rally

April 13, 2009 - 11:52am

TYLER - Grass Roots America We the People will host a rally May 2nd.

The group's philosophy is to fight to keep the rights granted by the constitution.

The organization started in December, and about 150 people regularly attend meetings.

Mr. George Stephenson, one of the organization's founders, says they want to unify members to vote together on issues like abortion and immigration starting in their precincts, and growing from there.

It's hard to support a president that wants to bankrupt our country. I am not throwing flames here...if yiou do your research (and I have) you will see that Global Warming is a man made scare tactic for Al Gore and his "good ole boys" to become rich. Obama said and may I add, out of his own mouth that he intends to bankrupt the coal, gas and oil industry and what a better way to do it??? Global Warming and the new GREEN. Now, I am Green certifies and all for having a clean environment but lets not bankrupt America along the way. My suggestion is for you to come visit our meeting and see for yourself that we are not against anyone but we are for the people and trying to educate people on our constitutional rights.
Obama kept saying the word "Change" well he never said it would be for the good and so far he is not doing what he said he was going to do. In fact, he is doing the opposite. Here is one of many sites for you to see (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hdi4onAQBWQ) he is raising taxes and adding more taxes that we have to pay everyday. Like I said, these are the facts and public knowledge....

Larry,

You say that if people would come to your meeting then you would see that you aren't against anyone, yet you are clearly against our president. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you identify with the the Right Wing in our country, which has lost a lot of ground in the last couple of elections.

You've got a good strong base of die-hard conservatives, but that base is shrinking. The problem there is that it takes VOTES to win elections and make any kind of policy change. With a shrinking base, that's going to be difficult, so the only solution is to reach out to those moderates and independents that might not agree 100% with Obama and might be open to an alternative.

But you guys shoot yourselves in the foot every time you open your mouths. You fire up your base, but you alienate those that might be open to some of your ideas.

Here's an example: You open up your comment with the assertion that our president wants to bankrupt our country. Well you've just turned off a lot of non-diehard-conservatives that happen to like the president because no one in their right mind believes that Obama WANTS to bankrupt the country. You may disagree with his economic policy, but demonizing him with hyperbole just makes you look out of touch.

Why not take the higher road and outline in rational terms the risks associated with his economic policy with out resorting to the "going to hell in a handbasket" rhetoric?

Sure some of the hardliners will say you're being too soft, but the moderate, independent thinkers will actually listen to you for a change instead of dismissing you as a sore loser with an axe to grind. Then MAYBE they'll cast a vote your way during the next election.

Chris,

I am only stating my opinion and the facts that are outlined. The meeting and Rally has nothing to do with my opinion. I was only making a comment to atexastwister and what he said about how we the people took back the country at election time. I am sorry you feel that way, I am NOT trying to be hostile towards anyone.

My wife Becky and I attended the Rally this past Saturday and it was a breath of fresh air to see all the people come together. You have to remember that WE are the People of this great Country and we need to get back to the Morals and standards that the Founding Fathers of the Constitution founded this Great Nation on! America prospered,as a Nation, because of this and people like us! I want to thank everyone that attended and the Grass Roots America We the People team for putting it together!!! I look forward to many more meetings in the near future.

I will leave you with this bible verse from psalms 33:12 "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord;and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance."
