Grassroots America holds a Ted Cruz rally at a local Tyler church

Tyler, TX (KETK) — Texas senator Dan Patrick endorsed Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst for U.S. senate, causing controversy among Tea Party members.
Patrick is the founder and leader of the Texas Tea Party Caucus in the senate--- a group that has collectively endorsed Ted Cruz.
The Texas Legislatures' Tea Party Caucus released a statement saying that senator Patrick's views do not represent those of the committee.
Friday in Tyler, at the Cornerstone Church Assembly, Grassroots America We The People held a rally for Cruz.
KETK caught up with the organization's executive director to get her thoughts on the issue.
"I said Dan if you come out for Dewhurst then we're gonna have to match you, and we'll be very direct and very ferocious about it because we feel very strongly that we need to send a constitutional conservative, said Grassroots America executive director JoAnn Fleming.
Rally organizers tell KETK Ted Cruz has a long list of conservatives backing his campaign, and they do not believe Patrick's endorsement will hurt him in the long run.

Leave it to Fleming to throw around catch words like "constitutional conservative" when the only thing she is interested in is getting people elected locally that she can influence. It is very hard to take her seriously since she backed the jail bond and Larry Smith, one a financial burden on the county and the other a federal guy. Where does she come off thinking she's anything but "establishment"? Direct and ferocious? Well, maybe ferocious.........!
One can only hope that smart, discerning and patriotic Americans will send teavagelicals a loud and clear message November 6th...that they do not speak for all the American people! Silly tea bag swinging hats are fine for trick-or-treat, but they're about as rediculous as the teavangelical movement has become...flemming is a shrill voice clammering for attention while dragging along folks who are more than willing to let a loudmouthed angry woman do their thinking for them. OBAMA 11/6/2012!

How can these churches participate in politics and retain their tax exempt status?
