TYLER - The T.I.S.D.. bond election is coming up which could mean several new schools for Tyler but, opponents say the price tag is too much.
As election day gets closer T.I.S.D.. officials are holding several meetings with hopes to pass nearly a $90 million bond to expand Tyler schools but, local grassroots members say that $90 million bond is actually $145 million dollars when you include interest.
The debate has gone back and fourth between the Grassroots America We The People group and with Tyler school officials. Last week, the group sent an invitation to T.I.S.D.. asking them to hold several town hall style meetings. Members of the grassroots group tell us T.I.S.D. has agreed, sort of. There's still no word on the specific request for a town hall meeting from T.I.S.D.. but, they have set up several "informational meetings" and Tyler school officials say people are welcome to attend.
