Tyler, TX — TISD is proposing a pricey bond to put on the City of Tyler's may ballot.

Grassroots of America leadership and members of a group "No More Excuses, Tyler ISD!" are putting their foot down.

They attended Tyler ISD meeting Thursday night to get answers to why they are making decisions which do not include academic performance.

"We're just going to have a more expensive environment for the same problem," says JoAnn Fleming, Activist, Grassroots of America.

A 'high price' decision is what Tyler ISD is proposing.

The City of Tyler can possibly see a $160 million dollar bond on the City of Tyler May's ballot.

Tyler ISD's plan is to improve schools, provide new technology for learning, make an exterior change to Robert E. Lee High School perimeter.

One group '"No more excuses, Tyler ISD" of Grassroots of America, opposes this proposal. They held a meeting Thursday morning.

Activist, JoAnn Fleming tells KETK,

"The tax payers lose, the teachers lose, but do you know what the worst part is... the students lose." says JoAnn Fleming, Activist, Grassroots of America.

She says the district's priorities do not make sense, and that Tyler ISD needs to focus on the low academic performance in the district.

"You will see some of those schools will have the highest spending rate per student wit the least academic results, it that the teachers fault...no," says JoAnn Fleming, Activist, Grassroots of America.

During the meeting, parent and member of "No More Excuses, Tyler ISD!" tells KETK, a new building will not create ambition in our children to learn.

"New schools don't teach children, good teachers and stable administration does teach children," says Cedrick Granberry, Parent.

He tells KETK, this bond is a mistake, and that the district is making poor decisions.

"When do we realize what the problem is and as a result come up with viable solutions," says Cedrick Granberry, Parent.
