Green Street underpass may reopen in February
Longview — Green Street in downtown Longview may be reopened from Cotton to Methvin streets as early as February — including the underpass that ducks below the Union Pacific railroad bridge.
“We are actually still developing the final detail to restore that pavement section,” said Rolin McPhee, the city’s assistant director of public works. But, he said, the February timeline includes opening the underpass to traffic for the first time since it was closed.
The work is part of a $6 million renovation project of the street approved by voters in 2011 as part of a $52.6 million streets bond issue, which included $11 million for renovation of Center and Methvin streets through downtown.
